Pirate Ship Wheel
The pirate wheel was constructed and added in 2021.
I purchased table legs from the big box home improvement store, then cut them to the right length and angle to fit together.
My son used his router to cut two perfect circles for the front and back of the wheel's outer ring. I then used a 7-inch hole bit to cut the round center.
We created contoured edges with a router. I cut triangular wedges to fit the gaps between the spindles.
*Not shown: I filled the gap between the front and back circles of the outer ring with 2x6 boards cut to the same arc
I mounted the wheel to a base and post using a lag bolt.
I covered the screw holes using upholstery tacks and added a skull and cross bones hood ornament

I used decorative drawer pulls to accent the ends of the spindles.

I coated the entire piece with a dark wood stain and then used a dry cloth to remove excess stain for accenting.
