Buried Pirate Skeleton

The center of the suspension bridge features a buried pirate scene under glass panels.

I used GreatStuff foam to build up the scene to look like a hole in the ground

I used a standard 5' skeleton and dislocated the jaw for effect.

I placed black plastic trash bags and used a heat gun to melt them over the skeleton - this gives it a decayed flesh effect.

I spray painted the entire skeleton black and then dry-brushed over it with brown, rust, and a bit of red colors, leaving the recesses black.

I dry-brushed the exposed bone areas with a cream-colored acrylic paint.

After acheiving the desired affect, I fine tuned the cream drybrushing to blend it a bit so that it looked more realistic.

I tore and distressed the clothing and added hair, and a sword rammed through his chest.

I covered the foam with dirt and dried leaves, then set the scene with the skeleton and his pirate treasure.

The scene is covered with a thick panel of plexiglass for support and a panel of glass for scratch resistance. Those walking through the covered bridge are in for a surprise!
